After installing Kopete , I find that when you log it gives me an error and closes. To solve the same need to download and install the following package:

Updating Compiz Fusion Ubuntu 7.10

Upgrading to Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon was quick and easy as ever, as in For me, home is on another separate partition to the operating system, did a clean install it (for precautionary backup before).
